For the past few years I have been learning to follow a healthier lifestyle. I was the Queen of junk food. When I was younger I would prefer to eat chips and cookies rather than a home cook meal. I was bad bad bad! It took me years to really realize that I have been blessed to be physically healthy although my earlier eating habits would make you think otherwise. Because of this, I decided that I do want to stay healthy. There is nothing like being ill and not having the ability to enjoy certain activities without thinking about your health. However, you don’t have to live like that, if you decide to make the right choices now. For the entire month of January I will be blogging about Healthy lifestyles, from eating to exercising and yes I am joining this journey with you. I often devote my time in writing about our spiritual life; which still remains most important. However, if you don’t FEEL right you can’t do right, so your health is important. So join me on this journey in learning to respect our body and treat it as the Holy temple that God created it to be. Stay tune.

Today’s blog is on making homemade salads. I remember I literally used to hate salad, until I went to the Amish market and had a salad made for me, I chose all the toppings and you know what? That salad was the best salad I ever had!!! And I was hook from then on. This pic here is an actual salad I made to replicate that salad. It’s a Grill Shrimp Salad (my fav), with tomatoes, cucumbers, of course lettuces and I top it off with cranberries (my favorite dry fruit choice for salads). For dressing I chose a blue cheese dressing, but you can choose whatever your taste buds desire. Salads are the easiest, quickest healthy choice you can make anytime. Just pick up some lettuces and some of your favorite toppings and VOILA, you have your own homemade salad!
Did you know? There are different types of Lettuces and it’s is a low calorie food, no cholesterol, no sodium and is a source of vitamin A, K and folic acid.
HAPPY EATING
